Our 15 Environmental Champions represent every aspect of the organisation, from executive level to frontline services, finance and HR teams.
Each champion is set a sustainable objective as part of their annual appraisal, which is reviewed after 6 months.
Environmental Champions act as ambassadors for sustainability. They focus on small changes in everyday behaviour that can have a big impact, working closely with staff and tenants.
For example, business mileage was identified as an area for improvement in our SHIFT 2016 Sustainability Assessment Report. Broadland operates in a largely rural area, so this presented a challenge for the Environmental Champions. Various measures (below left) are now being implemented to lower our carbon emissions in this area of the business.
