To get money towards your rent in Universal Credit, you will need to enter your rent figure on your claim accurately so it can be verified by Broadland.
When you first apply for Universal Credit or are already receiving it and move into a Broadland property, you must input your housing costs in the ‘Where you live and what it costs’ section of your online account. You will not be paid housing costs until you do this.
To get your exact rent figure, check your annual rent increase letter or contact the rent team.
Important! Rent and service charge figures must be exact and entered separately – being out by a few pence will mean housing costs cannot be paid until this is corrected.
Please remember that if you are in rent arrears, the amount you pay each month should be more than your normal monthly rent.
