Why did Helen apply to join the board?
I had left paid employment to start a family. I felt that after working for more than 20 years in the affordable housing sector, I still had a valuable role to play in shaping how Broadland could meet local housing need.
The board member role appealed to me because I can combine it with being ‘mum’, and most importantly for me, I still get to use my knowledge and experience in a meaningful way, to influence the future of Broadland.
I am particularly enjoying seeing good quality new homes being built again for local people in housing need. It makes me feel proud to still be part of it!
