Mutual Exchange (HomeSwapper)
From 1st August, all mutual exchange requests must be completed through the national mutual exchange service, HomeSwapper. Applications can take up to 5-10 days to be approved once submitted to your landlord, therefore we ask that you submit your application as soon as possible.
This means Broadland Housing will no longer process mutual exchange applications directly. If you wish to exchange your home, you must register and apply through HomeSwapper.
What is mutual exchange?
A mutual exchange is when two or more social housing residents agree to swap homes. This can be a quicker way to move than waiting for a new home through the housing register.
How to apply
To apply for a mutual exchange, you will need to:
- Register with HomeSwapper: Create an account on HomeSwapper and complete your profile.
- Build your profile: Add details about your current home and the type of property you are looking for.
- Search for matches: HomeSwapper will show potential matches based on your preferences and location.
- Arrange your exchange: Once you find a suitable match, you can contact other tenants directly through the platform.
- Approval required: Any agreed exchange must still be approved by your landlord before moving ahead.
Why is this changing?
We are updating our process to make mutual exchanges simpler, faster and easier to manage. Using a single national platform helps residents find more matches and manage their requests in one place.
