To claim money towards your rent in Universal Credit, you will need to enter your rent figure accurately so that Broadland can verify it.
When you first apply for Universal Credit (or if you are already receiving it and move into a Broadland property), you must input your housing costs in the ‘Where you live and what it costs’ section of your online account. You will not be paid housing costs until you do this.
To get your exact rent figure, check your annual rent increase letter or contact the rent team.
Important! You must enter your rent and service charge figures exactly and separately. If you are out by a few pence it will mean housing costs cannot be paid until this is corrected.
Please remember that if you are in rent arrears, the amount you pay each month should be more than your normal monthly rent.
