As a Mindful Employer, Broadland is committed to supporting staff’s mental wellbeing. In May 2019 we launched our team of staff Mental Health Champions across the organisation. The champions went through 8 weeks of training and offer a confidential, 1-to-1 service in the workplace.

The Mental Health Champions’ role is to listen, support and signpost suitable services to colleagues who may be struggling with their mental health. They also raise awareness and promote mental wellbeing across the organisation.
There is still a great deal of stigma around mental health, and often a lack of understanding of the issues. We want our staff to feel comfortable to be able to start conversations around mental health and are committed to supporting their wellbeing at work.

Being a Mental Health Champion is the chance to use my own experience to help people who are struggling and helping them to realise they are not alone.
