Get a smart meter
A smart meter shows how much energy you’re using and what it costs. It can help you cut your energy bills and also show your supplier what you use energy for, so they can recommend energy-saving tips.
Submit a meter reading
Check your meter readings regularly and always send in a meter reading when your supplier asks for one. It stops you getting an estimated bill, which could be too high.
Ask your supplier to move your meter to a more convenient location if you are having trouble reading it.
Understand your bills
Your energy bill will include a unit cost for the energy you use and a standing charge. This is a fixed cost by your supplier for administration, supply and maintenance. Find out more about understanding your energy bill.
